Maurice A. “Moe” Mann, 62, of Festus entered into rest Tuesday, September 13 th , at Mercy Hospital
Jefferson in Crystal City. Born October 12, 1959, in Tacoma Washington, to the late Maurice Mann and
Thelma “Ann” (Whitmire) Ward. He was compassionate about his animals, family, traveling, playing
chess, and his car, a Pontiac Ventura.
He served in the Army from March 23 rd , 1977, til December 18 th , 1978. While serving he was 54 Echo,
Chemistry Op Specialist. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. August 16 th , 1977, he was in the Kirk
Army hospital due to a serious knee injury. He was later discharged and worked for many years as an Ice
Cream Driver for Frosty Treats in the Florissant Area. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
They called him by many names including Buzz, Bud, Unc, Cuz, and Moe.
During the off seasons, he would spend his time traveling to tropical locations to soak up the sun. These
locations and adventures included the Caribbean Funday Tours at Cancun – Isla Mujeres, Mexico, the
Recuerdo de Cancun, Q. Roo, Mex. at the Yalmakan, the Sea Princess voyage in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco,
Mexico, Tijuana, B. Cfa., Mexico just to name a few. He also enjoyed traveling to Oregon and
Washington to visit with his family and friends.
Mr. Mann is survived by his loving nieces and family: Crystal (Keith) Morgan of DeSoto and Ashley (Craig)
Melton of Barnhart. His brother, Greg Ward of Hillsboro, sisters, Jamie Shook of Kokomo, In. and Lisa
Morgan of Ocala, Fl.
In addition to his parents, Maurice Mann (1964) and Thelma Ann (Whitmire) Ward (2016) and James
Ward (2022), he is preceded by his brothers, James D. “Jimmy” Ward (2008) and Terry Wilder (Indiana)
and nephew, James D. “J.D.” Ward II (2021).
A celebration of life will be held at Larry G. Crites Memorial Park at the Marsha Lehman Pavilion (N Lake
Pavilion #19) on October 22 nd , 2022, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Herculaneum Cemetery in Jefferson
County at a later date.
